We spent our date night in the emergency room. Yes that's right. Here's the story...
I had gone upstairs to get ready for a quick few errands and then date night. Noah had to take Mac out to pee and went downstairs, thinking the gate was locked behind him. Well, crafty little Ayden opened the gate and tried to go down the stairs (something that he normally does very well for his age). Well, he must have caught something and tripped...falling down the 5 steps. He ended up on the landing and started to cry, but quickly was back to running around.
We noticed that his left wrist was a bit swollen but he was moving fingers and his wrist so we figured he was okay. When we noticed that he wasn't using it as much as he used to, we said it was time for a trip to the ER. And thinking that it was just a bruise or sprain...yep, again we underestimated our baby boy.
Nope...buckle fracture just above his wrist/growth plate. Basically, when he landed trying to catch himself, he bent his radius and pushed it back on itself. (Thus the "buckle" fracture) It's not a major break but it does need to be in a cast for at least 4 weeks.
His tiny little wrist with a tiny little bend...ouch! |
So first trip to the ER with Ayden and first broken bone- that was our date night. Fun huh?
my big brave boy |
Up tomorrow: Union Jack Day (hopefully)...Maybe Kate will have the baby tomorrow?
OMG, this picture of him is too cute though! He's like "check out my bad a** cast!" Neither I nor my brother ever went to the hospital/broke or sprained anything. Yes, I'm rubbing that in :)
